Advertisement for a Paraprofessional for Pawnee Grade School

Pawnee Grade School is currently hiring a paraprofessional for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.  Applicants must have an Illinois approved paraprofessional license or at least 60 hours of college credit.  Interested applicants must also have the ability to pass a fingerprint background check. 

Paraprofessionals must have effective oral communication and interpersonal skills, and the willingness to make positive contributions in a team atmosphere.  S/he must establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.  Interested candidates will assist teachers in providing a positive, safe, and academically challenging learning environment for students.  Paraprofessionals assist teachers/supervisors in all areas, which may include assistance with specific components of an IEP (relating directly to children assigned) and monitoring safety conditions for students.  S/he will contribute to the home/school communication process under the direction and supervision of the teacher and/or administration.

Job Description

The Pawnee School District #11 is looking for a cafeteria cook/food service person. Job Title: Cafeteria Cook/Food Service Person
Reports to: Food Service Director, Head Cook and Administration
Summary:  Assists in preparing, cooking and serving food in school cafeteria.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate specialized food service equipment.
  • Assist in food production, service and/or cleanup tasks as assigned.
  • Receive and unpack food and supplies.
  • Clean and maintain food service equipment and facilities.
  • Participate in ongoing professional training.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Necessary Skills:

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate well with others.
  • Ability to exhibit objectivity and openness to others’ views, give and welcome feedback, contribute to building a positive team spirit, put success of team above own interests, build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives, and support everyone’s efforts to succeed.

  • Ability to meet challenges with resourcefulness and generate suggestions for improving work.

Education and/or Experience:  High School diploma or GED required. Prior experience or training is preferred.

Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and uses hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Possible Junior High/High School Coaching Positions



Pawnee Junior High/High School is seeking qualified coaching applicants for the 2019-2020 school year. The following coaching opportunities are available:

  • Assistant High School Boys Basketball
  • 7th Grade Junior High Boys Basketball
  • High School Assistant Track

Extra-curricular opportunities include organizing and running all aspects of the program, or assisting the head coach.  Interested candidates for coaching positions must be ASEP certified and pass a background check with the Illinois State Police.
