Elizabeth Rollins' Essay Chosen for the 27th Illinois Coal Calendar
After studying and researching Illinois coal mining in Mrs. Behrent’s reading class, several students entered the statewide 5th through 8th grade contest in the Art and
Essay categories. Elizabeth Rollins, 5th grade, was among the few essays chosen to be printed in the 27th Illinois Coal Calendar. State Senator Sam McCann arrived at the Executive Mansion to personally give her an award of recognition before the ceremony.
