Preparing for the ACT

Dear Parents,

PSAE testing for juniors in high school will begin on Wednesday, April 23^th and end on Thursday, April 24^th at the Assembly of God Church. PSAE stands for Prairie State Achievement Exam.  Day one, your student will be given the ACT test, which this year will include a writing portion.  Day two, your student will take the ISBE Developed Science, Work Keys Applied Mathematics, Work Keys Reading for Information, and the Work Keys for Locating Information test. 

If your student is late to the Assembly of God Church on testing day, they will not be allowed to test that day.  Testing will begin promptly at 8:30 and will end around 12:30.  Students will be allowed to leave the testing sight after all students are done testing.  Students are required to arrive at the Assembly of God Church by 8:10.  Transportation will be provided from the school if needed.  Please let Mrs. Duenas know if transportation is needed.  A free breakfast will be provided prior to testing on both days.

Students will need to bring two number two pencils.  No mechanical pencils.  Also, students may bring a calculator.  The writing portion of the ACT is not administered as part of the PSAE’s.

You can help your student do his/her best by having him/her:

• get a good nights’ sleep each night

• have a nutritious breakfast

• dress comfortable

• encouraged by you, to do his or her best!

If your student is absent during either of the two days, he/she will make up the test during school time. THIS TEST IS REQUIRED BY THE STATE OF ILLINOIS TO GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL.  The makeup test for day one is Wednesday, May 7^th, 2014 and the makeup test for day two is Thursday, May 8^th, 2014.
